Depending
on the occupation, the conditions will change slightly. For construction

be in all outdoor weather that requires stamina and physically able bodied.

- On onshore installations workers work for 8 hours a day for
6 days in a row. On offshore installations they work 12-hour days
for 14 days in a row and then have 14 days off.
- Offshore workers will be evacuated if there is possibility of
a serious storm.
- In 2004 there was 316,00 salary and wageworkers employed in
the gas and oil extraction industry.
- There are about 56% of workers in this industry that are aged
between 35 and 54 years old.
There is a great need for varied skills when it comes to oil
field jobs. The different types of jobs can be divided up into
groups that include extraction and construction, production, transportation,
industry employment and lastly the management, financial and business
group. 37% of employees on an oilrig have jobs involved in extraction
and construction, 14 % of workers account for the industry employment
group, 12% of employees are involved in business and finance.
10% of employees are in the material moving and transportation
group with the last 9% making up the production workers.
