There is a number of people involved in the whole process of finding an area for drilling to the actual drilling then the transportation and distribution of the oil. - Treaters test the oil for sediment and water and then will remove these by using special equipment and controlling the opening of drains.

Other skilled workers for oil drilling jobs include:

- Cementers that mix and pump the cement to fill casing and to repair wells for prevention of cave ins.
- Acidizers that increase oil flow by pumping acid down the well and into the producing formation.
- Perforator operators that make holes in the casing to allow oil flowing into the wellbore.
- Sample operators have oil drilling jobs that include collecting samples of soil and rock formations from the wells to help the geologists find out if the site contains oil.
- Well-pullers that will remove pumps, pipes and subsurface equipment from the wells for maintenance, salvaging and cleaning.
- Electricians, pipe fitters, machinists and welders take care of the maintenance of the pipes, pumps, gauges and other devices. They will also install and repair the equipment.
- Sailors, radio operators, pilots, cooks and ship officers are required for support the operation of the barges helicopters, crew boats and drilling platforms.
